We will first ride together starting out in Atlanta, Capital city of the State of Georgia, a Southern State, and then navigating our way East-Northeast bound, first crossing into South Carolina then North Carolina, to reach the Atlantic coast just south of Cape Hatteras. From there we continue Northbound along the coast to Yorktown on the Chesapeake Bay in the State of Virginia. It is in this Historic town, near the Atlantic seaboard, that we will begin our traverse of the whole continent following The Trans America Trail all the way to our destination, the town Astoria in State of Oregon where the Columbia River spills into the Pacific Ocean.

The TransAmerica Bicycle Trail was originally mapped out as a Transcontinental Bike route to be experienced as part of the Bicentennial celebrations in 1976. That year the USA celebrated its 200th year since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Since it's conception in 1976 this Bicycle Trail has attracted thousand's of cyclist's, American and foreigners from all over the world, to experience America, literally coast to coast, while on an adventure of a lifetime. It has been mapped and described in guides and is continually updated by the Adventure Cycling Association which is based in Missoula, Montana, that evolved from the Bikecentennial Organization that created this Bike route. It became the Mother of many similarly mapped and described Bicycle Trails that now form a network all throughout the Continental United States of America.

It is there, in Astoria, our Companionship will end as Menno will go up North along the coast and enter Canada and Tjoan will go down South along the Pacific coast.

Interested visitors can continue to follow Menno's Solo ride, first exploring the Canadian Rockies with the Beautiful National Parks there, and then his Eastbound Trek across Canada to the Great Lakes region. From there he will go Southbound again back to the USA and head for Atlanta where his return flight home departs. And/or you can stay Informed about Tjoan's Solo Southbound Adventure along the Pacific Coast Trail all the way down to San Diego to end a little further at the Mexican Border in a State Park. A domestic flight will get Tjoan from the West Coast back to Atlanta to catch the booked international flight back home to The Netherlands. (that is… unless he has time left to add some more Cycling miles... Eastbound. You'll see)
